Block Paving Cleaning Process

Preparation

Firstly, We ensure the area is accessible, with a water supply ideally from an outside tap. We move any obstacles, such as planters and benches, which we’ll return to their original spots once we’re done. Our team will check for areas that require more intensive care, identifying and treating areas with black spots and lichen, and treat with a targeted solution to ensure a thorough clean.

Power Clean

Using the latest and most powerful cleaning technology, we remove old sand, mud, moss, and the most stubbornly rooted weeds, setting the stage for a pristine finish.

Chemical Application

Following the power clean, we apply a chemical wash specifically formulated for block paving and stone surfaces. This restores the visual appeal of the driveway and works beneath the surface to eradicate any remaining moss and black spots. This chemical treatment ensures a deeper clean and prepares the surface for the final touches, enhancing the overall health and longevity of your block paving driveway.

Clean Down

When the block paving cleaning process is complete, We wash down windows, doors, frames and surrounding areas to remove any splashes from the jet washing. Ensuring that we leave your surroundings in impeccable condition.

Sanding

After the surface is clean, dry and free from moss, we proceed with sanding.
This involves spreading kiln-dried sand over the block paving and sweeping it into the joints using a soft broom.
The sand helps to stabilize the block paving and prevent the blocks from moving.
Re-sanding should not be attempted if the joints are slightly damp as the sand will clump together and will not fall into the joints as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to re-sand my block paving after pressure washing?

Yes, the sand stabilises the block paving by filling any voids between the blocks

Can I re-sand straight after pressure washing?

The block paving must be completely dry when re-sanding, so depending on the weather, you may have to wait for a dry day to re-sand

Will pressure washing kill the weeds?

Although pressure washing will visibly remove the weeds, roots will still be under the block paving.
We recommend applying a weed killer, 1 week before pressure washing, to kill the weed’s roots.
